Your taxidermist will enjoy applying their skills to your trophy Scimitar Horned Oryx from the Bar H Bar Ranch. These beautiful antelope are typically mounted with an extreme turn to accentuate their long sweeping horns. Typical horn lengths will run from 40 to 50” with trophy sizes nearer or exceeding that upper estimate. Both males and females have these beautiful horns with males having greater mass.
The Scimitar Horned Oryx, named for the sword which their horns resemble, will weigh from 200 to 450 pounds; your large trophy should be at the upper end of that range. A whole lot of delicious goodness in your freezer for months to come.
The Oryx travel in large herds, up to 40 animals, led by a dominant male. They are most active in the early morning and late evening preferring to spend the majority of the day in the shade and protection of the dense cover of the Bar H Bar Ranch. We won’t be looking for them to travel to water…they can go 9 – 10 months without a drink!
The Scimitar Horned Oryx is an amazing trophy, one which hunters proudly display and fantastic table fare you’ll enjoy for months to come.
While the Scimitar Horned Oryx is endangered in their native habitat, we are proud to have a thriving huntable population on our ranch and support ongoing world wide species regeneration activities.
